Some of our family members refuse to be up to date on vaccines and to get the RSV vaccine. They will be meeting our child at 6 months. If they cannot do their part in keeping our child safe, then they will have to wait to meet them until they can get vaccines/ until it’s safe to do so.

when I was changing my 2 week old bby (he had poopy) my 1 yr old (had a runny nose) came over as I was holding the babies legs and wiping, planted a snotty kiss on my newborns mouth. I couldn't maneuver fast enough to stop it. less than a week later he was transported via helicopter to Boston children's with rsv from that brotherly love. he was In the NICU for a week. his left lung collapsed. they are 22 and 23 now but my baby never really fully recovered. he always has pneumonia and other issues.

My oldest was born in mid November and I got so much crap from my ex husbands family for choosing to stay home with her for the Thanksgiving that was a few weeks later. Huge family gathering that would have over 50 people there. Then we found out that a ton of them ended up with the flu. I was so glad I kept her home.

in our family, we don't kiss babies, Mama's and Daddy's only, and if I'm sick heaven forbid I won't even visit!!! I'd rather see you hundreds of pictures of a well baby then one picture of my grandbaby in the ICU with RSV

My son was a preemie during the summertime and any time we left the house. I had his car seat covered over him, and when people came over, they weren’t even allowed to touch it.

Does no one else do an air kiss? When I was a nanny I used to tap their cheeks with my finger while making a really dramatic kissing sound. That way I could fulfill my instinct to give them a kiss without actually kissing them.

My son was at his 3 month well child check and his pediatrician was holding/cuddling him and she gave a gentle kiss to the top of his head (in his hair) and then said “oh! I’m not supposed to kiss the babies” and was so upset with herself. I actually wasn’t upset about it (it was such a sweet moment) and told her I won’t tell if you don’t [Tears of joy] but had she kissed his face or anywhere near it, I would not have been happy. 🤷♀️

Yep- my now 22 year old was hospitalized at 3 months for RSV. It was terrifying- she was my first baby. I literally slept on an air mattress in her room.

hes struggling to breath my son went to the children's hospital immediately an we was there for three days I came home an took care of the rest by myself along with breathing treatments bless you mama an that sweet baby

My baby is due during peak flu season so nobody but me, my husband and my mom is allowed to be near him until at least end of May/beginning of June after allergy season is over too.. everyone wanting to meet him isn’t worth risking his health. I’ve waited and hoped for him for too long to jeopardize anything 🤷🏻♀️

Genuine question? For how long? Im team NO KISSING (due in December) and my MIL is -one of them- and just doesn't get it and got reprimanded for kissing a cousins 8 month old. Newborn 100% but when does the risk sorta subside if you will? I want to protect my son but even I think 8 months old is a bit of a different story, and maybe im wrong idk? I mean im not kissing anyone else's kid but these boomers man, they're relentless with that 'nothing happened to their kids' mentality.

My DIL had a baby two weeks ago and she did give us guidelines. She wanted us to have updated DTap, flu and MMR(if needed) vaccines. Make sure we washed her hands before holding the baby. No kissing the baby. And to please stay home if we were sick or coughing. We all totally respect their wishes. My son and wife went through a lot to have this child so we want to keep her healthy.💕
