I totally agree with your point, but the main issues you mentioned are a much bigger problem and much harder to address. This bill at least helps improve one of the many issues in healthcare. We still need to address the underlying problem but let’s support this bill to help a little!

So Medicare is no longer offering enough money to compensate the doctors who are performing the work. And yet weirdly enough there’s still people who look at that and think that it’s a great idea to let the government take over the rest of the healthcare system so they can run it just like they’re running Medicare. Does that seem weird to anyone else? Does anybody else feel a little bit nauseous thinking about the fact that Donald Trump could be responsible for their healthcare? Because I do.

Listen, I’m certainly no economist but I see your point and I wouldn’t mind sending a letter to my congressmen and senators to push this point of view because it makes eminent sense to me.

REGULATE INSURANCE COMPANIES. Make underpaying for services against the law. Make billing less complicated. Make cash pay patients and ALL INSURANCE companies reimburse same amount. No more getting EOBs showing inflated charges, ins disc or write off, ins payment, your cost. Granted charges may fluctuate due to cost of living differences, cost of newer equipment, etc. But that etc needs clearly defined, billed same to all insurance companies, insurance no connection to pharmacy, hospital, or PBMs.

We need to support independent practices like we do small businesses. We also need break up hospital system monopolies.

Undervaluing cognitive specialties also needs to be adjusted. Nonsense how well something like ortho is paid while primary care struggles

Insurance is the issue. Private equity is a symptom and should also be out of it. But insurance is the issue.

My doctor went to work at a teaching hospital because he and his partners had gone without getting paid a few weeks so they could make payroll. I agree, insurance needs to remit claims payment fairly AND timely.

yikes, this is not the take, seems like you want more potential buyers for your practice if you decide to sell... PE owning practices is significantly worse than hospital networks, it's not even close

PE is not "just trading one master for another" - the economics of PE is to hollow out businesses and shrug when it fails. It pains me to say it but there is a big difference between a psychopath CEO who at least sees a business as a cash cow --but wants to keep the cow alive, because that's their *check*-- versus PE who actively want to gut businesses with zero interest in keeping the doors open. PE is the vultures of capitalism.
Just look at Red Lobster. PE got ahold of it and immediately started shuttering stores and selling the land for real estate.

Private equity will absolutely go after thriving businesses. They are especially interested in anything they can get "on the cheap" which often *includes* struggling businesses, but is NOT limited to struggling business.
Storytime: In college I had a friend who was there "just for fun". The kid inherited a luxury yacht company. He did not need to work for the rest of his life, and he was going to electrician school just for funsies.
He got out of the yacht business because some PE firm bought his stake. It was a thriving yacht business (after all, billionaires love their boats) but the kid just wasn't interested.
You know where that yacht company is now?
Underwater.

There are other underlying problems in the u.s. healthcare system but holy crap banning PE is at least neutral (if not a very very good thing).
