@growwithkaela: Compartmentalization is how a dismissive avoidant stays in control. As long as each area of their life is separate, no one person ever sees the whole picture of who they are. And if one area is falling apart, they can close that box and be completely fine somewhere else hours later. You didn’t imagine the distance. You were just never given access to the whole person.
What an awful struggle of a relationship. I’m glad I’m no longer in it the more I learn.

It`s really true, they also are completly intransparent about things going on in the different boxes. Not lying, but just constantly keeping back so many informations as possible from you and never reveal the whole story and important details, you would be possibly mad about.

Was with my now ex for 5 years. Never let me meet his family or daughter. I only met 1 friend. I questioned constantly but he just kept saying he needed to feel ‘safe’. Avoidant behaviour is a form of abuse. And if you meet someone who openly tells you that they are an avoidant, run! He also told me im an anxious attatchment. Because of how hos behaviours had affected me [Teary eyed]

Wow! Have you been watching my husband’s behavior? 🤦🏻♀️🤣😂🤣😂😂 I’m married and have no idea what he’s about. He keeps everything private from me. It’s his controlling behavior.

This is all true, but why present it like it’s a bad thing?

Not disagreeing, but be nice if this didnt always point negatively at the DA. We are like that, usually due to life experiences you can never imagine. Not all DAs want to live/love this way. 🥰

I really don’t know the difference between a narcissist and dismissive avoidant also, the further down this hole I go due to the relationship that I’ve been in. I can’t help but Wonder if I’m both or neither. Dafuq. I hate this.😂

I just broke up with a DA5 weeks ago after being with them for 10 months. I swear, 99% of what you’re saying is exactly them, including this video. It’s like you were there invisibly observing everything the whole 10 months we were together.
