My pan dulce Conchas from scratch are so soft, fluffy, and delicious. Enjoy with cafecito ☕️💕 Full Recipe below 👇🏽 👇🏽 Yeast mixture: 3 cups warm water 3 tablespoons active dry yeast 1 tablespoon flour 1 tablespoon sugar Give everything a stir, cover it, and let it sit until it’s nice and foamy. Dough Mixture: 1000 grams flour 1 cup lard 250 grams sugar 1/2 teaspoon salt Start adding the yeast mixture into the dry ingredients a little at a time. I like to make a small well in the center of the flour mixture and gradually pour in the liquid. Continue mixing until the dough comes together.  Knead the dough until it's smooth and elastic. Place it in a large bowl, cover it, and let it rise for about 2 hrs, or until it has doubled in size. Topping Paste: 1 cup flour 1 cup sugar 1 cup Crisco All-Vegetable Shortening Mix until a paste forms. For the pink topping, I added food coloring. For the brown topping, I mixed in cocoa powder. Once the dough has risen, use a dough scraper to divide it into evenly sized portions and roll each piece into a smooth ball. Place them on a baking sheet. Lightly brush the tops of the dough balls with vegetable shortening, this helps the topping stick better. Flatten a piece of topping paste into a thin disc and gently place it over each dough ball. Then use a concha stamp to create the traditional shell design. Bake at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes, or until the bottoms are a golden brown. To give the topping a little extra color, I turn on the broiler and place each tray under it for about 30–60 seconds. (Keep a close eye on them during this step so the topping doesn’t burn.) Allow the conchas to cool before serving so the topping can get that signature texture. Enjoy with cafecito. #baking #conchas #pandulce #mexicanrecipe #fromscratch @andrea ꨄ︎
