When they took over mile high a couple years ago they immediately ran it down - closed a studio then for the other two let go of all the studio staff besides coaches and there was no plan in place (including any cleaning plan).. coaches had to check runners in, lead the class, wipe treads between classes etc alone in the studios. The ac broke in UES and nobody would fix - is such a huge safety issue! Was really sad for the whole community of runners

Mile high run club is gone? I loved them!!! Before I went, I thought it was such a silly concept (why do I need someone instructing me on a treadmill???) but it was one of the best workouts in the city. I could easily run 5-7 miles in a class there when I would maybe do 2.5-3 on my own

That last email they sent is genuinely traumatic. I’ve been in the fitness industry for over 6 years and there’s something so eerie and horrible about opening a one paragraph email w no explanation saying everything you built is just… over??

The Y7 in west hollywood closed abruptly about a year ago, saw the notice on the door that rent wasn’t paid… And those classes were full for months

Not to mention the horrible underwhelming non explanation of an email sent to all members. I loved Y7, did my teacher training there, and will likely never go back.

I know the clients are at the bottom of the list in this mess. But it’s really hard on us as well to lose these spaces and workouts. For me personally Y7 absolutely saved me at a time when I was deeply grieving the unexpected loss of a loved one. That place has been a touchstone to me for over 12 years. Especially in nyc, it’s not always as easy at it seems to just completely switch studios, or go uptown or downtown everyday, etc. At least for me, it was forsure a part of my routine, that was instructor and location dependent. I’m also confused at how they were able to sell. I thought Sarah still owned 49%, and she sold the 51%, giving Fitlab majority. Anyways, I hope all of the instructors and studio staff get paid and land smoothly on their feet. They absolutely didn’t deserve this! ❤️
