If anyone who can’t understand this, then you don’t know the aging population and or anyone who feels super lonely and wanting to be loved romantically, and believing in story which comes across as writing, which billions of us have been subjected to through movies and novels and conditioning that there is some romantic assurance in our life that makes life beautiful and wonderful, when reality is most romantic partnerships are a scam and in this case the romance started out with a big scam that ended this poor lady up in a foreign jail. You really think an aging lady with a home would be the delivery person for drugs on purpose and knowingly? Pretty certain most people in that situation are lied to, controlled, marginalized, naive, desperate and uncertain. Add aging brain, deafness, loneliness, cognitive compromise and the internet- there you go, that’s how.

I work in a women’s shelter in Ontario Canada. 1/4 women we serve are being romanced scammed. The team knows it and tries to help but not one of them believe us. One of our clients believes they are dating a Toronto maple leaf player. They met on Facebook on fan page 😔. And despite all efforts to safety plan, educate about romance scams, talk about the red flags, they still engage with the person. It’s really sad

I also know an elderly person who has also been scammed for his money from someone in Africa as well. It was also a romance scheme when something was said to me it was instantly a red flag!!
