She's probably trauma bonded w him after 26yrs. No way in hell cheating is his only character flaw. The way he gaslit her shows there's more to the story. You're right tho, if she's not ready to leave there's nothing anyone can say or do to help her. It took me 12yrs to leave my abusive ex and it was actually finding out about him cheating that gave me the strength to leave.

I have friends that went through this and you are right, they don’t leave until they are ready. I think they go into shock and become paralyzed to do anything. They need time to process and the decision after that is theirs.
