i think part of the reason so many people are rejecting interview advice from industry professionals is because it doesn’t seem to matter what we do, our experience, etc. I have a good bit of experience working as a supervisor in a fast food restaurant and can only seem to get hired for low pay food service positions, really only serving which I hate. I come in dressed nicely, being polite and professional, and get ghosted. I can go to a similar interview in jeans and a graphic t-shirt and act casual and land the job. It genuinely doesn’t seem to matter what we do, jobs are hiring less and less regardless of what we do. Yes that just an anecdote but many people have the same experiences. We’re getting tired of putting in effort only to be ghosted.

This whole argument is so stupid cause why does it matter in the first place. I cannot wrap my head around how a drink that makes you feel awake and more alert makes you unprofessional. Like obviously listen if it’s a fancy important job but what fucking industry professionals are in like fast food and retail. They’re all underpaid and overworked. I don’t know why they would care.

As a Gen Z, a lot of my generation has difficulty confronting the way that thing should ideally be, and the way they actually are. Yes, hiring decisions should be based on merit, though appearances matter because interviewers are human and still biased 🙄🙄🙄
