Translation error at the first part. Reid says “you would’ve been stronger if you broke out of that shell” not that Julius broke his shell. Julius made his resolve to wear his shell of the finest knight and decided that it was his lifestyle. Reid is saying that if Julius just chased pure strength and forgot about elegance or knightly manners, he would’ve been much more stronger.
