Genuinely the perfect villain bc he actually makes you think. Like obv he wants to help people but is he really doing it if he’s controlling everyone’s paths and leaving no room for struggle which is what makes us who we are. His whole escapist ideology is so interesting because the thing he’s escaping (our past hardships and a flawed reality) is what makes people who they are. If Joker was never falsely charged by Shido, his life would be so much different and he wouldn’t have met all the important people he did. I love Maruki he’s honestly exactly what any villain should be

I love it because it's the complete opposite of the phantom thieves whose beliefs are "The world can be cruel and unfair, but you can fight against your oppressors and find your own happiness." compared to Maruki's "You will have everything you want, but no control over your own fate.". It's hard because life is hard, sometimes we subconsciously wish we could have something like Maruki's reality, where we don't have to feel the pains of life, work, relationships, bills, responsibilities, or grief, but at the end of the day you would be a prisoner in your own body and would a life like that really be worth living?

It sounds good on paper, but he’s not better than the God of Control by enslaving man-kinds desires and stealing their freewill. Also, not everyone gets to be happy in his reality because Shido still goes to jail and and even the palaces test, his whole ideology is based on if a dream seems impossible, then just find an easier one. But when you also think about it, not everyone can be happy, its literally impossible for everyone to be happy. Like with light there will always be shadow, positivity and negativity have the same yen-yang concept

Imo: If it wasnt for some of the most painful moments of my life, i wouldnt have learned some of my most important lessons, nor would i cherish the people in my current life as much as I do, It truly sucks, but the pain you go through every day will not only help you grow as a person, but itll teach you to value what you have all the more. Now does that mean all you should experience is pain and suffering? Of course not, it just means that you should appreciate your happy days and memories more than you already do

kinda random but i noticed how most songs are about the pts overcoming their enemies and things like that while throw away your mask specifically (based off the name and lyrics) is actually about marukis reality and possibly about him trying to convince the pts to give up and allow him to change reality for what he thinks is the better

And Yet persona fans refuse to engage with him at more then a surface level. They villainize him when hes more of an antagonist, one whos grief is misguided him into harming growth rather then actually harming them
