I’ll never forget one the nurses on here make a tiktok about this same thing and he said the front desk nurses assess you when you walk in if your walking just fine or not bleeding out you can wait or if you have enough energy to argue while your wait you can wait and let the people who need critical care go first

One time I was in a resuscitation room because I went into a severe episode of anaphylaxis and some lady got so mad because I got a room before her son with an ear infection. ( they were in a hallway bed ) I could hear her yelling from outside saying “ we’ve been in the hallway for hours and that girl just came in and she got a room , they told us there was no rooms, but there’s a big room right there” 😭 yeah you don’t wanna be first when it comes to the ER. I have skipped past triage more than I can count. ( I have an immune system condition that causes frequent anaphylaxis.)

I walked in to the ER I explained and showed the bloodwork results that made my primary send me there. I was signed in and whisked to a room, hooked up to various devices, my blood drawn and admitted for multiple blood transfusions. I felt so bad for being there.

Worked in nursing 40 years. Seen a lot. So many people who have no problem solving abilities. I definitely feel for the EMS personnel.
