@no_niche_nita: What's a pet you've had that you'd never get again, and why? I’m really curious to hear everyone’s experiences! Let me know in the comments. #Pets #PetStories #NeverAgain #PetLife #AnimalLover
Sun conure. Loud & messy. We never bonded. I was basically its slave.

Lots of people accidentally admitting they didn’t take care of their animals properly in these comments.

A fucking bengal cat. I give him everything, run my pockets dry for him, I love him, I revolve my life around him. And he’s the biggest asshole ever. I have NEVER had a good nights sleep in the 4 years since having him. I love to talk too. But this mf will not shut the frick up.

Dog. I’ve had dogs in my life for 20+ years. I’m tired! My heart has been broken for the last time a month ago when my beloved baby died. Dogs are a huge responsibility and I’m ready to travel without the added burden, cost & worry. The memories & love we shared will always remain with me, but I can’t do it anymore.

Guinea pigs… god bless but they do require way more than people/internet says and smell. I was vigilant and it felt like a part time job.

Turtle lol I bought a river cooter for my son for his 9th birthday not knowing wtf I was getting myself into and that’s exactly what I get for not educating myself on them and their needs before buying it lol firstly I spent damned near $500 for all the materials for the turtle including the turtle itself lol had no clue I needed such a huge tank and the lights and a big ol filter so I left the store with so much shit 🤦🏻♀️secondly , they are very messy and their tank gets dirty and murky super fast and it STINKS badly😩I was having issues with the filter and the tank would get sooo dirty within a few days and the smell was something crazy but I literally had to change the water using a big bowl everytime it got dirty. It was really ALOT going into it taking care of that turtle. Kept it for about a year / year and a half and eventually had to rehome it because the maintenance that came with the tank alone was too much. Brought him to a nice reptile sanctuary/reptile shop and I really hope he got a better home ❤️but I definitely learned my lesson and I will surely do research if I was to ever get another pet like that ( and I’m sure I won’t ) 😭

After my last cat passes I will never get an animal again period. The pain of losing them is too much for me to bear. I don’t think this is the kind of answer you were looking for but this is my honest answer.

Tbh, owning any pet is becoming way too expensive. I absolutely love all animals, my degree is in horses, I use to own 5 but all were sold due to rising costs and opportunities that did not work out, but genuinely the cost atp will keep me from getting animals/livestock anymore. Once my two cats go, my puppy, my 5 snakes, and tarantula goes, I am out of the animal game unless the economy gets better(it won’t from what I have heard). Plus the grief, it’s so hard to lose them and nothing makes it better after the fact. Just left with severe depression and nostalgia.

A husky. Even after a 2 hour walk it still had energy for a marathon! They shed incessantly and are cunning escape artists. I love them but from a distance.

Fish, probably. Especially a whole big tank of different types. I always hated cleaning the tanks, and the constant whir of the filters was awful for me when I was a kid

Just a pet in general. I am both too poor, and too depressed to think that getting another one would be a good idea. 🥲

Parrots. I love my birds. They are my family and their sounds make my home a happy place. I am committed to them forever but they are expensive, emotional and very smart. Most of all they live human years so it’s truly a lifetime commitment. Don’t get birds if ur not prepared for that. They are in my will

Hamster, I realized they aren’t as domestic as we think. Most hamsters are ghost hamsters which means they barely come out and don’t really interact or bond with their owners. I honestly think we should stop breeding them and stop selling them, they’re better off not being pets. I feel like if you want a rodent then get a rat because they can bond more with you. Always do research before you get a pet❤️

Male cat. They are a lot more likely to develop health and territorial issues than a female cat. I love my cat but he has developed chronic FIC and I was unaware that it was incredibly common in young male cats until his 3rd ER visit of this last month where the vet told me most of their FIC patients are orange and male and roughly 3-5 years old just like him. He also has had marking and stress related issues since I rescued him years ago, also very common in male cats especially ones that were neutered late like him. I’ve spent the last 3 years nursing and shoveling money and love into a cat that never seems to get better and maybe never will. Cystitis flare ups can turn into blockages and then sudden death in the blink of an eye. I’ve gotten attached to animal that might recover and maintain health until what should be his natural life span plays through but seemingly will most likely not even last the year. I wouldn’t wish this on anyone that cares very deeply for their animals.
