WWF New York opened in October 1999 in the Paramount Building at 1501 Broadway, a multi-level venue with a restaurant, a nightclub, a retail store and a stage that WWE used for television. Raw and SmackDown cut to it for live segments, pay-per-views were shown on the big screens with a live crowd, and the company ran talk shows and press events from the floor. It was renamed The World in 2002 after the WWF-to-WWE change. The World closed in February 2003. The space became a Hard Rock Cafe in 2005.
