I used to get that a lot from women. They said I looked liked a kid. 1st thank you I’m trying to look young lol. 2nd I got so many compliments from black men especially in South Carolina. I loved my twists. Heck even with my microlocs I wear them in braided and band most days. I go out daily with them in. People have to stop worrying about how people will see them.

It’s sad that many BW associate growing into a woman with hiding and neglecting our natural hair. We should learn *more* about how to pour into our health and natural beauty as we get older, fully stepping into our unique beauty.

we have trauma *jazz hands* my coworkers complement straight hair which is annoying but I usually interview in straight hair then hit them with the afro😂

What isn’t normal is seeing women with natural hair or styles being admired. It’s not seen on TV, entertainment or professional spaces. We’re the first generation embracing our natural hair. So it will take time to heal from this.

I will say this I had to unlearn this and now I see it from a different perspective. Our natural hair doesn’t make us look childish BUT it does bring a different type of youth out of us. It’s something about our natural hair that just brings everything out
