The outcome and the power gap were obvious from the very beginning. I don't know how some people thought Gojo could beat Sukuna. Even Gojo himself and the other sorcerers had doubts, and Gojo had even written a farewell letter along with a huge backup plan for after his death.

I reread the story after all the hype and band wagon hate over the ending died down and the writing is great. Gojo and Sukuna’s conclusions are phenomenal and the narrative showing us that even Sukuna, EVEN HE, had the opportunity to choose to live like Yuji, but decided not to because he felt that trying to lead a good life would cause him to self destruct because of the curse placed on him. Him doing whatever he wanted, which resulted in him killing people, was literally just a front to hide the fact that he was mad at the world. Mahito was right, Sukuna’s overwhelming sense of individuality was a mask, and that mask fused with him and he was unable to remove it in old age
