The US has no rights over minerals in Greenland, only over military presence, which the US already had. The only difference is that Russia and China cannot establish anything there, but they were not welcome to do so before either.

U.S. didn't win, Greenland did! They got U.S. to protect THEM from China/Russia. They rather deal with U.S. than the other 2. Plus, they know current U.S. leadership will change sooner than later. GREENLAND used U.S. to get what they wanted/needed. Therefore, the credit you're giving for the "win" should go to Greenland!!!

Im genuinely surprised, that you are not more informed on this topic. Besides the veto on foreign nations in terms of mineral rights, the deal is exactly the same! The US always had the rights that the new deal outlies.

According to Danish government and legal experts. What's new: Nato adversaries not allowed to use Greenland for bases or investment, this was already in effect in practice with Denmark and Greenland blocking all investments and NATO adversaries were never allowed to build bases there seeing as Denmark and Greenland are in NATO. But now the US is the one saying no. This is a benefit for Denmark because their blocking of China investment has cost them diplomatically in the past, now they just point at the Uss. 🤣 The agreement doesn't automatically end if Greenland goes independent. The old deal had no end date but assumed Greenland was part of the Danish kingdom. The US doesn't have exclusive mineral rights, Greenland could still block the US from any mineral access. What's the same: the US can build as much as they want in pre approved locations, they still have overflight rights. Their is still a duty of consultation with both Denmark and Greenland.

This is vastly overstated. The US doesn't have mineral rights, they have veto power over non NATO countries getting mineral rights. Greenland retains all mineral rights.
