Can almost guarantee the nurse would get in trouble for this. Maybe even fired. Hospital only cares about money and not getting sued. They’d rather see staff get hurt then stand behind them in court

ED Nurse here. People don’t realize how much violence we experience. I was beaten with a broken off IV pole. Had a fx wrist and lacerations requiring sutures as a result. Management and HR’s response was to ask what I did to anger the patient and I should have been able to avoid it. Pt literally ran out of a room behind me and began beating me. We need better support from HR

I 100% side with the nurse. But what is so unfortunate is that the nurse would be the one under scrutiny and being investigated. I work psych, and this happens quite often and the staff are the ones investigated

ER nurse here and my thoughts on the matter is I will be alive to fire. The hospital will blame staff instead of placing the blame on the real problem the patient and the facilities incompetence to secure a known high threat area.
