Red squirrels are a protected species in the UK, there’s isolated habitats for them where the government have cut hundreds of trees between Red squirrel habitats and the rest of the forest so that grey squirrels won’t invade those areas. It’s a shame because they are absolutely gorgeous and should be thriving
