🚨 #OdessaTexas This is the exact moment a mother was detained by Ector County School District officers at Murry Fly Elementary School today, Wednesday, May 21, 2025. I spoke with the School District spokesperson by phone, then requested a statement about the events, and this is what she told me: Patsy, I'm glad I could help. Here you go: This morning, at an end-of-year bilingual pre-kindergarten program, a mother sat on the steps of the cafeteria where the children were scheduled to perform, instead of in the chairs set up for the audience. When asked to move, the mother began cursing at the principal. When the principal and a campus official asked her to leave, the mother refused. The principal relented and allowed her to stay for the program. At the end of the program, the mother became aggressive again; she was asked to leave, but refused. The mother attacked the school principal, but a police officer detained her. He then punched the police officer and, after being detained, kicked an officer. The mother was arrested on multiple charges: breaking and entering (a Class B misdemeanor), resisting arrest (a Class A misdemeanor), and assaulting a peace officer (a state jail felony). This incident is regrettable; however, safety and order are priorities when large crowds of visitors come to our schools for these types of events. Foul language and physical assaults will not be tolerated.
