@mothershipsg: Retrenchments in Singapore rose to 4,620, or 2 retrenched per 1,000 employees, in Q2 2026, according to the latest labour market report by the Ministry of Manpower (MOM) released today. It is the highest level since Q4 2020, reported CNA. The rise in retrenchment was driven by business reorganisations and restructuring in outward-oriented sectors like manufacturing, information and communications, and financial services, said MOM. Retrenched workers also took longer to find new jobs. Here are other key labour statistics from the report: 1️⃣ Total employment increased by 11,400, marking the 19th consecutive quarter of growth. 2️⃣ Fewer retrenched residents found jobs within 6 months in Q2 (54.9%) compared to Q1 (60.7%). 3️⃣ Resident employment growth slowed to 2,200 in Q2 from 5,400 in Q1. 4️⃣ The number of job vacancies exceeds number of unemployed, at a rate of 1.48 vacancies per unemployed person in June. MOM said that the government will continue supporting employers and workers by investing in workforce transformation and human capital development through its programmes, such as the Career Conversion Programme and Mid-Career Pathways Programme. #mothershipnews
