Before anyone panics… NO WAY. I’m having a clear Perspex box made so I can hang this on the wall as art! My kind of art ++. Pride of place in the museum on Planet High Fashion.   Can you imagine being only months into flying solo as Valentino’s Creative Director and coming up with THIS?! NICE. Colliding the elegance and restraint of Victorian dress with the playful graphic irreverence of Nathalie du Pasquier (a founder of Milan’s legendary 1980s Memphis Group). Victorian severity covered in giant numbers, hands, flowers and geometric leather intarsia? I’m still gasping. And THIS is what’s so brilliant about conversion. See an idea you love - like those buttoned-in front and back panels? Recreate it using existing clothes AS FABRIC! There are trillions of garments being buried or incinerated that could become insanely fabulous new versions of themselves. If you need permission to use a thrift-store garment as fabric: PLEASE GO AHEAD. Obviously I’m now hunting for something aching to have those central flaps added… what an incredible way to add width!!!
