@emis.asia: A wound vacuum does not suck your wound closed. The suction is just the delivery method. The wound edges do get drawn inward, roughly eighteen to thirty five percent narrower within three days. But that is not the part that heals you. The foam also pulls the wound surface into microscopic peaks and valleys. Every cell on that surface is being gently stretched, and a stretched cell is a cell that divides. That signal, not the suction, builds new tissue. Which is why more suction is not better. In one study of chest wounds, seventy five and one hundred and twenty five millimetres of mercury pulled the edges in equally. It is powerful, and that cuts both ways. In reports to the American regulator over two years there were seventy seven injuries and six deaths. Bleeding was involved in every death. Twenty seven reports involved infection, including from dressing pieces left behind in the wound. So every piece of foam gets counted in, and counted out.
