@1m65premiummall: 🚨 Is Singapore’s job market starting to crack? Singapore retrenchments surged to 4,620 in Q2 2026 — the highest level since Q4 2020. At the same time, job vacancies are falling, long-term unemployment is edging up, and fewer retrenched workers are finding another job quickly. The most worrying signals are not just the headline layoffs: * Retrenchments jumped sharply from 3,830 to 4,620 in one quarter * Only 54.9% of retrenched residents found work within six months, down from 60.7% * Job vacancies fell from 73,300 to 68,600 * PMET vacancies weakened particularly in financial services and information & communications * Restructuring is hitting sectors including manufacturing, finance and technology-related industries Singapore’s overall unemployment rate remains low, but beneath that headline, the labour market is showing clear signs of softening. And there may be a much bigger structural issue developing: AI, automation, corporate restructuring and global cost-cutting could permanently change the kind of jobs available in Singapore. In this livestream, I will examine whether this is simply a temporary slowdown — or the beginning of a much tougher employment environment for PMETs, middle-aged workers and fresh graduates. The key question is no longer simply: “Will AI take my job?” It may increasingly become: “If I lose my job, how easily can I find another one paying the same salary?” #SingaporeJobs #Retrenchment #SingaporeEconomy #JobsCrisis #AIJobs

If AI technology becomes more and more widespread, the job market will only get bleaker and there will be no possibility of a turnaround

They call this “ongoing transformation to sustain long-term business sustainability.” At this rate, the only thing truly sustainable is the transformation itself. 😂

The retrenchment is being bring ahead because many companies can't see any future. AI is just simply 1 of the reasons.

this is a global trend now not jus in Spore. companies are cutting cost & embrace tech & AI to keep it less labour intensive. the best defence now is skill upgrade & change career to adapt to the market demand

The ministers are getting great scale in salary increment. On the ground, a lot of F&B business etc closing down, sight of unoccupied shop & offices, job retrenchments. We really experiencing weird market signals. So is SG's economy doing well or not?

Retrenchhment yet minister salary increase, people suffer all sort of change of law that chances of people have to pay more... LTA introduced more autonomous taxis which more people will loose livelihood in future.
