most UK issues with the meat industry I've seen is probably the animal cruelty and how they dump animal waste into rivers

About 83-86 percent of the water we use for cattle is green water and our cows eat a mix of grass, barley, silage, and meal, apart from personal beliefs theres not really and many reasons to be against the meat industry except from the methane production and animal treatment but as long as you buy from local butchers or local farms the animals will be treated far better than large scale farms

this is what ive always thought. not to mention the rest of most their food is a by product from the distilling industry which atleast where i am is actually what takes up and destorys the landscape. atleast with livestock you can also encourage biodiversity while also getting multiple products! welfare needs to be argued for before we try jump the gun and make our world completely vegan

I'd also like to add that around 90% of the UK is countryside, 73% of which is farmed land. There are around 1000-2000 total factory/intensive farms compared to the 70,000 family run farms and, correct me if im worng, but i believe its a simialr scale in America where around 95% of farms are family run? You go for a walk ANYWHERE in the countryside and you'll find animals being grazed. In my local town, cows are grazed along riverbanks, sheep and goats are grazed in solar panel zones, and we even had a chicken that regularly escaped into my primary school. There are reasons to go vegan/veggie, like- methane does a lot of damage as do fertilisers/pesticides and I get people wanting to go vegan for the sake of animal welfare or moral reasons. But its important to do your own research from non-biased sources because theres a lotttt of vegan propaganda out there with regard to animal welfare especially that just isnt true

im in a architecture heavy area in the uk so i never knew people didn’t just grow their own animal feed like yeah u see a massive roll of hay and yeah cows

Why give the water to the animals? Why don't we just give the water to the humans? So that more people can have access to that rainwater for things like outside tap, toilet flushing etc

Also, just generally urging people to commit to veganism is incredibly privileged. Not everyone can afford, be allowed or be sustained under that lifestyle. Vegan products tend to be way more expensive. For example, I always use vegan care products and makeup, but I do not eat vegan. This "all or nothing" mentality some people have is so ridiculous
