actually i feel freer now without paranoia about hell or sin, but sometimes i miss being a believer that after death there is a place (heaven) and gathering with my family and those i love. after becoming a non-believer ofc, the reality is that death is nothing and we can only spend time with the people we love once in our lives as long as we are still alive

Was playing a video of sheikh assim talking about how “women should stay at home and work only in segregated offices if their husband allows”. My boyfriend (who’s spiritual but doesn’t subscribe to any religion) was shocked to hear such stuff. He said when I hear such things, I want to say “Ok here you go” and proceeded to punch the bed. As someone who suffered religious trauma, seeing him do that was SO healing.
