It’s less to do with stealing it’s more to do with encouraging people to return them to the bays and not leaving them in random parking spaces / forces you to find a trolley bay with other trolleys so they’re easier for the employees to collect.

Home bargains usually sell them trolly things in store they’re like 59p or something like that, I have one on my house keys + a few spare in the car and like in different handbags haha

I work in retail and we have people taking trolleys streets away, to the point some take them home. no one in retail has a influx of staff to wonder round the bus stops 🙄 to collect trollies. its a shear annoyance! so they think "awk its only £1 im losing, ill just abandon it at the bottom of my close. we actually tell them to STEAL bnms trollies 🤣

when a customer asks for us to get them a trolley we use a Kirby (straighten it out and slide it into the coin slot) so handy if you never have coins!
