I went to the GP to get support with panic disorder earlier this year and was told I’d have to contact the local talking therapies service myself, even though it was explained to me that the GP could do it on my behalf, to ‘show commitment’ to getting better. mind you I was almost housebound by this point, and I don’t think I would have contacted my GP in the first place if I didn’t want to get better… I wonder how many other young people there are out there who did try to reach out for help with their mental health but were then dismissed or not taken seriously by health services!

when i was in sixth form in 2020, my sociology teacher told me most of us in the room would never own a house. my 70 year old father laughed in my face saying that’s ridiculous…. now here we are in 2026

If my insomnia had been given the attention it deserved when I was 9 I may not of been forced to miss out on so much education. And all the mental health issues aside from the insomnia !!

It’s mostly parents who rub it on our faces how they never rested and how us younger generations being able too more often from the resources that are being banned and erased in front of us how we shouldn’t sit around be on technology they brought us into the world to have access too so it’s odd and very weird . Parents kicking kids out yelling at kids for not getting schooling done or a career kids like sorry what more do you want from those you wanted it to be harder for !??

British person, in my 50s, and the younger generation have been absolutely betrayed and harmed and I’m heartbroken for them. They deserved better and the attacks on them are despicable.

been going to the GP with signs of depression since i was 11. been told i’m “too young to be depressed”, now i’m in my 20’s still undiagnosed and begging NHS to help me with no progress:)

As a young person, we shouldn’t need a professional study to justify there’s nothing wrong with opening up about how you feel and how your mental health is? The fact it’s even got to this point shows how out of line it is for older and current generations to throw the terms like that around, the lack of sympathy or remorse from people who do is awful
