Asian-Australian born and raised in Melbourne. I’m so sorry for your experience! Definitely report it if you can. Yes racism happens here, but we also have an insane teenage delinquency and crime issue. The youth are so lost here.

As an Asian born in New Zealand and then moved to Australia, the first time I experienced racism was from another Asian-Australian born😭 it’s so imbedded in Australia that your own people be doing it to you🥲 I’m so sorry this has happened to you 🙏

i went on a date with an aussie guy. when we rode the tram, it was packed so we just stood on the side. when he noticed that we were beside some rowdy teenagers, he boxed/blocked me from them w/ his whole body. it was weird to me then, guess this was the reason.

I had a friend who experienced the same thing a few years back, she was on the train and I was on the phone with her. There's a kid hanging on the hand rails and my friend just told her to be careful she might fall or hit people. Instead of stopping, she spat on my friend. The spit landed just a few inches from her. And they had a verbal exchange after. I heard everything on the phone. The kid kept saying, go back to your country. My friend was a citizen there. And by kid I meant that the child was a high school student in uniform and my friend was in her 30s. 😑
