My Pastor at my last church did it for me. She did a sermon called Who moved the lamppost? She talked about how Christianity had changed over the years. Changed? I told her I was leaving the Church that day and I wouldn’t be coming back. She encouraged me to do that and said she would be here when I came back. She still checks up on me. Fairly often actually. I love my old Pastor though. She was the only person ever that called out my parents for being abusive. Like called them out to their face. She don’t preach anymore and hasn’t been to Church herself in about 2 years. I left the Church and took the Pastor with me!

I raised my kids in church. At 50ish, I heard someone say “ how did the small animals survive being eaten by the larger animals when they were released from the ark, before they fully reproduced?” That question made me wake up and realize how stupid gullible I had been.

that was the last nail for me actually. I left the one church over honestly emotional reasons. then it was like this omnipotent being is going to punish me forever when it's clear in the Bible how finite and unearned we are. it makes zero sense to me.

I was visiting a friend who is a pastor. I saw “love wins“ on his bookshelf. I picked it up because I knew it was really controversial. I thought it was a book about accepting homosexuality, based on the title. He strongly encouraged me to take it because his father-in-law (also a pastor) kept making comments about how he hated that this book was on the shelf. I devoured it so fast. I dropped my own belief of Hell right then and there. I deconstructed about 10 years later but held onto my rejection of Hell for years. Love Wins was instrumental for me.

Thinking back on all the times I judged pastors and preachers for not preaching the gospel and teaching us “how to be good” lessons. It never occurred to me that they might have been faced with the sheer horror of hell and needed to veer away from dealing with it directly for their sanity.

After leaving church (mentally around 2016, physically in 2020) and beginning to study on my own, Tim Mackie's "sermon" on hell blew my mind and sent me on a whole different track. Once I went down that rabbit hole I wasn't able to unsee how foolish a belief it was all along. Mind you all of this lead to a deep dive into everything else like power, division, patriarchy and control. Hell, the fear of, is used for control and nothing more

I used to be against that book. I didn't even read it. I read Chan's follow up Erasing Hell instead. I'm different now because I repented of my belief in hell.

Anyone without the Holy Spirit is open to be misled! John 14 tells us that when we receive the Holy Spirit, He WILL TEACH US ALL THINGS! There is no modern interpretations of any biblical truths. You need to receive the Holy Spirit who will certainly help you right whrre you are. Do not play with God's truths! Satan is not playing any game... he is fully on the move to betray God's children from the path of truths. The sad truth is that Satan sits in many churches to hurt God's blessed children! I was there and the work of the Holy Spirit in my life has kept me getting closer andvcloser to God, our heavenly Father!

In the last two months, I have witnessed dear Christian friends lose their adult children, one from a heart attack at 51, the other from stomach cancer; she was about the same age. Both sets of parents suffered extra grief because their children had deconstructed years before. These friends are so sorrowful because they believe their children are burning and will never reunite with them in heaven. Is this the abundant life Jesus supposedly spoke about? It breaks my heart.
