I replaced the tub in my old home that was built in 1960. The drain went down right through a joist. They just cut a 12” section completely out. They also nailed the hardwood floor straight to the joist, no subfloor. The good ol days. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤣

If you have a drop ceiling, I would have tried to get it below the floor joints, if not drill proper holes. Less damage if possible.
