Transparency here: sometimes I feel like I have no will to live…this is well broken down… I have one child and don’t plan on having anymore nor do I care about marriage but I am pushing everyday to figure out what my actual purpose is. I’m in healthcare but I want more, I feel like I need to do more.

I stopped working. I stopped going outside. I put my whole life into being a mom, thinking that was my only purpose. For a while, I lived like that… until it started to feel like I was losing myself.So I sat with myself. No distractions, no running from it. And in that quiet, I realized something real. I have a life too. Not separate from being a mom, but still my own.I’m not just here to exist for everyone else. I am life. I get to experience, choose, grow, and create just like anyone else. And now, I feel grateful. Grateful that I woke up to that truth. Grateful that I didn’t stay stuck. Grateful that I found my way back to me.

This. I remember being on rotation with a woman gynecologist, really cool, smart, finishing her specialty at her young age (28 I believe) but when she talked, she frequently whined that she needed to get married soon to have children before her time was over, as if she was incomplete or lacking, as if she was nothing yet. I would just look at her in awe at how she couldn’t see herself for who she actually is, an already whole, competent and successful woman. Just because of how society programs us to believe we are nothing as women if we’re not married and with kids.

I think it's important to add that jobs that don't require much intellectual stimulation (businesses, sales, marketing) focused solely on making money end up creating and almost boosting this feeling of hopelessness that women (and some men) feel. They still crave it and find it in the closest proximity which is people (friendships/relationships) to stimulate their life. This ends in gossip, drama, meaningless relationships and betrayal in some cases. The bunch that can recognize this early turn away from such behavior and focus on self development instead finding other stimulating activities that they can find fulfillment in. Some find it in religion too or spirituality, but ultimately it's important to recognize fulfillment can come from anywhere you allow it to.

this is what I also noticed about the women in my tribe and it all boils down to how we are raised, we not raised to be individuals but caregivers from a young age our worth has always been tied to how useful we are to the people around us
