He doesn’t want to be friends, he wants to use you without dating. He either wants you around until he finds what he believes is a datable women (and then you’ll never hear from him again), or he’s hoping “being friends” turns into a hook up situation.

It was the best date because you’re interesting and you’re funny - I have learned the dates that I have a good time on is because of me, not them. Truly - I look back at the date and the conversation and if I was the driver of it all - I realize I’m the fun and interesting one.. not him. So circle back on the date, and maybe with a new perspective you’ll realize you are not the problem. Because I highly doubt you are.
