The gas engine, does power the wheels. What it actually does is send energy to the electric motors. What you wanted to say is that the gas engine does not directly power the wheels 🛞 It just functions as a generator. 😁

So they basically copied Hondas two motor direct drive hybrid system, Hondas battery drives the wheels till you get to highway speeds and the clutch engages
