@daniellegrobman: am i the problem? Be honest: is it A) just my friend — she’s a sweetheart and kept the social peace B) normal here to treat people like humans regardless of the past C) me being the issue and people everywhere do this Because this isn’t the first time I’ve seen this type of interaction: 2 people who don’t particularly like each other have, what I deem to be, a civilized/healthy/almost positive and pleasant interaction (despite not liking/respecting the other person) #cultureshock #spanishculture #girlhood #socialdynamics #dailythoughts
The difference between politeness and naivety is reciprocity

Only explanation is that she is actually friends with one of them, and had to act polite with the other. If that is not the case I don't understand why would she even had that little catch up moment.

we have this type of interactions with our worse enemy just to have news to offer our friends about the person we collectively hate

it doesn't sound like your friend was polite, but more 2-faced

i’d say it’s not so much because of being polite but because we are really nosy lol

Yeah… I mean we tend to be socially polite (if she had been alone though it probably would’ve gotten an evil look and been ignored)!

In the Netherlands I know a lot of people who still talk regularly to people they actually don't like because it's too much drama to stop being friends. But I'm also still in highschool, so that might be a contributing factor

Honestly, i wouldn't call that being polite, but fake. That being said, i would probably end up doing the exact same thing...

my school bully stopped me to have a chat with me. she acted like she never bullied me. she asked me how I was doing she told me how she was doing, I responded and all this with a smile on our faces. like nothing happened.I dont like confrontations, and I just know I am never going to see her again.

you were by her side, the other girl also wanted to be polite because you were there. so, if she was alone she would have ignored her
