Gentle movement, stretching, comfortable positions and slow breathing may help reduce physical tension and promote relaxation. They are stress-management tools, not a replacement for professional care when stress or anxiety is severe or persistent. 1. CHILD’S POSE This supported position allows the back, shoulders and hips to relax. It also gives you a quiet moment to slow your breathing and turn your attention away from stressful thoughts. Don’t force the stretch; stay where you feel comfortable. Try: 30–60 seconds of slow breathing. 2. CAT-COW STRETCH Stress can make you unconsciously tighten your neck, shoulders and back.
