had to cut my family out because they had the mindset of I can’t be an independent female and should marry. People ask why I still support Islam after going through that and I’m just like ??? It was the culture not religion lol it’s just crazy people can’t understand that

Agree 10000%. My parents were criticized so heavily for “letting” me move away for college. Can’t imagine the resentment I’d feel if I was held back due to parents who were scared of what others thought.

Reminder for both men and women. Education is for you, this is the one thing you are truly doing for yourself. Go do that residency in a great program. Do 2 residencies. Be as educated as possible. At the end of this very short life you will be asked what you did with your youth, no better way to answer by the service of humanity.

I was the first girl in my family to go to college and not get married straight out of high school- while I was able to break those barriers, the only red line for my parents was moving away. I was able to get a masters in my hometown, and establish a solid career, but I’m so happy my younger cousins and now our daughters were and are able to pursue things outside of their hometown. Remember - just because mom wasn’t able to break all generational curses, doesn’t mean she didn’t break any. Fly high, neices, we khaltos are proud of you 🥰🥰🥰
