I did this too. I went into the “clean girl aesthetic” and suppressed my alt/goth personally. There were lots of things going on when I adopted this. But in the past 5 years I stopped suppressing myself and I feel sooooo much more like myself now 🥰

I think it’s easy to loose yourself even outside of social media new friend groups etc. but social media brings it a step higher since if I want to read something weird and post about it it gets 100 views but if I post about something everyone is talking about you get more interaction. I’m really working on reminding myself I don’t NEED to ONLY read fantasy since everyone says “no pick a niche”
