My lactation consultant told me hungry babies don’t bite! Knowing this was a game changer. Sometimes, if it was time to eat and my baby bit me, I’d just put him back down to play, give him a teether and some teething drops (Camilia drops). And I’ve given him Tylenol when I exhausted these options and they didn’t work. That usually helped the pain subside long enough for him to eat and rest without any issues. My baby has bitten me too, it happens, but it happens less now that I know it means he’s not ready to eat. Sometimes they don’t know what they want, and reach for the boob when they want comfort it to be close to you. So sometimes I’d just give him a teether and grab a book or hold him. I’m with you though, girl. It’s hard and we definitely deserve all the credit for keeping these babies fed while they grow little razors lol. Also, breastfeeding moms are like extra comforts in so many ways… my baby doesn’t take a bottle or a paci, so all that pressure is on me to be his comfort and his meals on-demand. And I love it, but that doesn’t mean it’s not a lot, because it is! My baby is 9 months and getting his top two teeth, and he’s mostly contact napping right now.
