@couriernewsroom: AI is now helping manage air traffic around DC—and the rollout is moving fast. Starting today, a new $875 million AI system is analyzing flight schedules, weather and congestion at Reagan, Dulles and BWI and recommending alternate routes to air traffic controllers. The contract to develop the system was awarded just a few months ago, and experts say rolling it out this quickly is unusual. The air traffic controllers union also says it wasn’t involved in designing or testing the system. Human controllers will still make the final decisions, but this DC launch is only the beginning. The system is expected to go nationwide by 2028.
