My ancestors came from KwaZulu-Natal as warriors and crossed into parts of Mozambique, where they were given chieftaincy because of their fearlessness. They ruled that community for generations. My uncle is now in his 90s and is still the chief of the area. That’s why, when they recite the Ndlovu izithakazelo, they sometimes mix them with Shangaan praises.
