Working in a psych ward it is INSANE the amount of geriatric patients I get sent from hospice places. Like SIR this guy has stage 4 cancer, is in constant pain, and I ready tf to GO. Whyyyy are we torturing him by sending him to a ward? Are we really this corrupted by fear of legal liability that common medical sense is completely ignored?

in ancient rome this was called "mors voluntaria." In roman society they strongly went aganst suicide but when the person was sick, old, or disabled, they showed sympathy and respect for those people because they choose to go out on their own terms.

it's selfish. it's always selfish. it's also weak, understandable but weak. and this isn't coming from someone with a priviliged life. I mean in comparison to kids from countries like Afganistan sure just in comparison to most people on this planet no. it's always better to fight till the end, there is one exception though. it's when you're so close to death that you are doing nothing but suffering and it's atleast 90% guaranteed that you'll die

My father committed suicide because someone accused him of something he didn’t do and there is proof that he never did it and he got scared of what people would think about him so he killed himself he had just bought a nice home got remarried and was having the time of his life
