Do not get me wrong, Aileen was most definitely a psychopath. She became that way after being irreparably traumatized by the people that should’ve protected her at every turn though. It’s such an extremely sad story and like for anyone that goes through such horrible trauma that it affects their psyche that much I feel so sorry for her and wish her life would’ve at least started out differently. I wish she would’ve had the safety all children deserve.

That’s why I love this movie. People think the movie was only about women’s empowerment or female rage but I think it goes much deeper. It shows how society teaches women to suffer in silence and then judges them when they finally react. No woman should have to become someone she isn't just to be treated the way she always deserved

I remember going to a restaraunt the waiter brought out a random desert I didn’t order and I said it’s ok if u don’t have desert take this back please I don’t wanna waste it . He looked at my husband smirked and said oh no need to be so angry woman . I didn’t even raise voice and was polite . It made me realise how narccistic these men are all these little things we ignore as women actually add up and have affect on MH that’s why so many women suffer
