worth mentioning that even if the fall wasnt a swing, it still probably wouldn't hold because theyre only rated for like ~2kn. at best, theyre for slowing you down so hopefully your next sketchy piece will actually catch you

never have I ever even seen a skyhook, we've took the piss out of a friend's protection and called it sky hooks, but never used one. Rocks, Nuts, Hexes, slings.

As a British trad climber I have never seen a skyhook used. we use hexes nuts and cams. If you place the gear well enough it can catch a fall

I've never seen anyone use a sky hook in trad climbing. It's all cams, nuts, hexes, and slings - and I prefer to climb with half ropes as well

I've never seen a sky hook before. Nuts, hexes and cams are used. Slings can be really good placement on old routes where you can thread it through a gap. the reason we don't bolt grit stone is it's not right for the rock and it's not the same kind of climbing
