The wording makes it look like phanes is just being a jerk which he isnt... Tsarita was ordered by belyi tsar to open the gates to abyss, Tsaritsa died there, Then the 3rd descender ascended to celestia and made a deal with Phanes. In exchange for the 3rd descenders body, Phanes will revive tsaritsa and should ignore khaenriah. Phanes was ok with that... But then khaeriahns decided to play with the abyss so much that they literally destroyed their nation and almost take down teyvat along with them(even killed 4 of the archons and countless teyvatians), At that point Phanes literally has no choice but to break that deal he has with the 3rd descender in order to save Teyvat which is his own people, He didnt break that deal just because he wants to, Khaenriah with their obsession on the abyss, forced him to break that deal.

you forgot the reason why the 3rd descender sacrificed himself. He and tsaritsa did something uncontrollable which is the abyss that's why he made a negotiation to phanes to sacrifice himself to protect tsaritsa and khaenriah people and he himself turn into to 7 gnoses and made phanes give it to the archons to control the abyss and protect the people. Fast forward, the khaenrian people abused the power of abyss (5 sinners) which made the hp broke their negotiation and went on war to khaenriah to stop the abuse of abyss power. And because phanes broke his negotiation and hurt the khaenrian people, it activated the curse which made the heavenly principle asleep for the past 500 years. Correct me if I'm wrong. This is based on my understanding of the leaked story. Anyway, it's crazy how tsaritsa is trying to go on war with hp when in fact, it's the 5 sinners who caused all these problem.

you're mostly correct but the 3rd descender actually went to celestia after his wife died and the promise was that he would offer his body in return for them to bring her back and to not touch his children and as a result of that Anastasya would forget all about him and then the cataclysm happened and phanes suffered because of the consequences of breaking there promise.
