@sench_ola_: 1. Recruiters review each resume in the order they come in, no skips. 2. Your resume is getting passed around, not your application 3. AI may rank your resume, I’ve never seen it personally 4. HM will favor known candidates who have some connection to the company 5. Prescreen questions will be a disqualification, this is true 6. Lots of jobs don’t actually exist 7. ATS software made it easier to apply, which ruined intentionality #recruiter #jobapplication #jobsearch #hiring
I’m a programmer and ATS does auto reject resumes. Your own experience doesn’t encompass every company or process

There are ATS systems that specifically advertise themselves as grading, filtering, and eliminating candidates using AI systems. Ashby is one example, you can give it criteria, the AI will determine which candidates meet that criteria, and you can then filter out candidates based on said criteria. For example you could set a criteria such as “candidate has three years of experience as a sales manager”, filter by said criteria, and any resume that doesn’t meet said criteria would be auto filtered out. Now anyone that has an alternative job title or wasn’t specific enough in describing their experience is filtered out. Workday grades candidates based on how well they match the job description so if the AI grades you as a C or below you likely won’t be reviewed. And they’re in the middle of a lawsuit because it was found the AI was grading candidates of a certain age lower. Not all companies or recruiters use this system but enough do that it’s a real concern especially if you’re applying to jobs that are getting 1k+ applications

I was rejected from a job because I didn't tell them that I spoke English. My diploma is from a US university, my resume & application were in English. Seems pretty fishy to me.

If ATS systems do nothing then why use them and then separate from that why pay fir them. If your answers rejects both those questions then follow up is why does it even play a role in that process then?

Um they absolutely do. Fortune 500 company. My friend is a computer programmer/software engineer.
she submitted her resume at 10 pm on the company website and by 7am the next morning she got an email with a rejection
its absolutely happening
she ended up having to follow up directly with the hiring manager on LinkedIn. she later learned that their ATS system was set up too strict (a specific programming language) and rejected resumes that didn't take into consideration that the programming language had other names it went by

It's definitely true though just because some companies don't doesn't mean ATS isn't a thing.

Co-signed by a recruiter! Over a decade of experience across 6 ATS’s with demo’s over plenty other systems. ATS’s are not legally allowed to be ADT’s.

i applied for a job at about 6:30am for a local job at a business i know doesn’t open until 8am. i was CRAZY qualified for the job. by 7:30 am i had a rejections that said “after rigorous consideration we’ve decided not to continue your application.” maybe the recruiter was there in the early morning hours rigorously reviewing applicants but that for sure felt like a missing keyword elimination.

My sister is a senior product and UX/UI designer looking for work. How can she reach out to you?
Also totally agree with you on this. I'm non-artist but I actually tried to make a fun resume using canva and I had to go the most generic AI friendly shit just to get noticed.

The problem is there are recruiters saying the opposite. And how do you explain a 3 am rejection letter when you just applied a few hours before.

"no, the ATS is not kicking out your resume. Also we are not reviewing your resume if you don't apply fast enough or if the ats is not ranking you high enough"... I built tools for ATS to help candidates have a fairer chance of being considered.

Do you know ATS SYSTEMS can not handle even more than 2 type variations? Regarding design: As applicant you have to pick ATS COMPLIANT Or human atrraction. The very reason “creative resumes” are not being sent

Immediate rejections say otherwise. There is no way a recruiter sees an application that gets a rejection less than a minute after submission.
