@goatcult.media: On April 5, 2024, Cameron Jones was speeding through a 20-mph residential road in Merthyr Tydfil, Wales, with his girlfriend Demi Mabbitt in the passenger seat. A witness estimated the Audi reached 110–120 mph before Jones lost control in heavy rain and crashed into a wall. Demi was thrown about 27 metres from the car and left critically injured. Instead of staying to help, Jones took a bag from the wreck and fled. He even told people that Demi had been driving, despite being behind the wheel himself. Demi died from her injuries seven days later at just 25 years old. Jones stayed on the run for 24 days before turning himself in. He pleaded guilty to causing death by dangerous driving and other offenses and was sentenced to 10 years in prison, along with a 10-year driving ban.
