Researched this - it is optional and the parents need to request this. It is a current program that is just being expanded.

Dash🇨🇦 :
In Ottawa, Ontario 🇨🇦 we have public health nurses that come by to see you after you have a baby. It’s completely optional and super helpful. They come and weigh the baby, see how it’s growing, check up on your mental health. It’s a wonderful service for new moms as it’s so overwhelming at that stage.

we have this in UK and actually its really helpful especially for first time mums. they are really supportive and help parents especially mums nevergat motherhood.

In NH, they send a nurse to check in on new mothers. Some moms need help and that is a great way to provide help. It’s not a bad thing.

Interesting. I’m Canadian. I had home visits after every baby. It was normal. I hadn’t seen it as a bad thing

I hate to say this, but A LOT of mom’s lie and put on a brave face and say no they don’t have bad thoughts or depression because they are afraid of their kids being taken. I pray our system itself gets better for women and mothers.

we have had this in the UK for years. my daughter is 25 now so has been going on a while. they would come in, check on mum and baby. check how your doing bottles etc.

standard practise in the uk health vistors come to the home to see baby and mum. helps identify ppd early enough and get the support needed to help the mum and the baby

This already happens in the uk. It’s called a health visitor and you have one until your child goes to school, they visit every so often to check the child is hitting certain mile stones and also checks in on mum
