Please like, comment, and SHARE! 🙏 🔍 Episode Overview: At about 7:41 PM on December 17, 2023, Officer Aaron Seubert from Verona Police spotted a 2007 Ford Focus making a wide turn onto Lakeside Avenue after driving east on Bloomfield Avenue. The driver was also on a wireless device at the time. Seubert turned his car around and followed south on Lakeside Avenue. He saw the driver going out of her lane and decided to pull her over, turning on his lights near Cunningham Drive. The driver was 29-year-old Ashley. Seubert told her she was using her phone and swerving. Ashley said her boyfriend was sick and that she was heading to the Caldwell Diner, even though she was driving the opposite way. When asked where her boyfriend lives, she first said the Verona Tavern then corrected herself to say the Verona Inn, which is a bar. Ashley admitted she had one shot at the Verona Inn before driving but later said she had two shots there. Seubert asked for her driver’s license and registration. Officer Clark arrived to help, as Seubert returned to his patrol car. The officers suspected Ashley was drunk. They asked her to step out of the vehicle and do field sobriety tests after Lieutenant Scheper arrived. The first test was the Horizontal Gaze Nystagmus (HGN). During this, Seubert saw her eyes jerk and not track smoothly. Her nystagmus appeared at maximum deviation and before 45 degrees. The second test was the Walk and Turn. Ashley couldn’t touch her heel to toe, took too few steps, and failed to turn properly. The last test was the One Leg Stand. She couldn’t keep her balance and failed to raise her foot correctly. Her erratic driving, the smell of alcohol, her admission to drinking, and her failure in tests led Seubert to arrest Ashley for DWI. Her car was impounded for 12 hours under John’s Law. She was taken to the Verona Police Department for processing. At the station, Ashley was shown the standard statement for drivers and agreed to give breath samples. Her Breathalyzer test showed a BAC of 0.22%. That’s almost three times the legal limit of 0.08%. After paperwork, she was released to a friend, who signed a form warning about potential liability. She faced several tickets, including DUI, reckless driving, careless driving, using a hand-held phone, improper lane change, illegal turn, and having an open container of alcohol or cannabis in the car. Court records show that on June 13, 2024, Ashley was found guilty of DUI. Her careless driving charge was changed to obstructing traffic. Because of her guilt, she had to use an ignition interlock for three months. She also spent 12 hours at a driving resource center and paid $880 in fines. The other five tickets were dropped as part of a plea deal. 1:11 Officer He lives at the Verona Tavern? 3:14 Fourth time he’s asked where she’s coming from! 8:40 I mean, you can’t listen to that song and NOT sing If you enjoyed this BodyCamBust video.
