@courtneykayhall: They hate that I’m not someone they can control anymore. That I speak up instead of sweeping it under the rug. #breakinggenerationaltrauma #HealingJourney #finallyfree #MomsofTikTok #fyp
mourning someone who is alive is such a different kind of pain.

You know it’s your parents first time living life too. Just don’t forget that and sometimes showing grace is better than cutting them off.

I didn’t cut mine off, but they sure didn’t like when their quiet, perfect daughter finally spoke up after becoming a parent.

Yes. I felt this. Thanks for sharing. It’s hard to not have parents. Glad though I broke cycles and get to be the mother I always needed to my children. Life is good now.

This makes me sad. I’m new here so I don’t know if there’s other TT’s explaining more however after watching this it made me feel sad for everyone involved. I’m 60 yrs old raised 5 sons …. I know for a fact there’s 2 sides - then the “truth”

survivor of a narcissistic parent here🙋♀️many criticize her for doing this, yet if you have not survived a parent like that, its easy to comment. In order for us to heal, and be the best version of ourselfs, break the cycle and for our kids to have a better parent that we never had, cutting of narcissistic parents is imperative for healing. I feel you!

Mother Daughter relationships are complicated especially for older parents ... no handbook came with the birth certificate explaining how to raise a daughter when ... they have not healed from their childhood trauma ... I am grateful that my 89 year mom and I have the opportunity. Some days are so dam tough ... other days show the progress ... we don't stop talking and I'm her caretaker so ... there is no walking away therefore by default we are both willing and able and we will leave it all on the table as we ... make it to the other side ... so don't give up and always put yourself first ... once boundaries are established and respected communication becomes easier. Peace ... love ... and ... light.

I think sometimes people forget that our parents are people too, and they didn’t have the things that we have today like the Internet information at our fingertips among other things. My parents were pretty shitty too, but I love them and I realize they did the best they could and I meet them there. I don’t expect anything else better from them because they are who they are and I love them for who they are not what they were to me what they could give me or what they couldn’t and I do the best I can with my kids and maybe they’ll grow up thinking the same thing maybe they won’t but at least I know that I love them the best I could and the best that I could do. And they may think I could’ve done better or should’ve done better or been nicer or showed them more love or gave them more who knows but I definitely think people need to be a little bit more forgiving when it comes to our parents, we’re in this new woke stage that our parents are terrible and therefore we need to cut them out of our life not true. Just know that they are them and you are you and love them where they are and who they are.

Anyone who "chooses themselves" over others who sacrificed so much for ypu is 9/10 times the toxic narcissist. You did them a favor.

I feel this. but, then, my Dad sobered up, and went to therapy, and became an entirely different person, that became emotionally mature. and, now we have an amazing relationship. and, he's the best Papaw.

Do not know her story, so this absolutely does not apply to her. I do think that society and therapy has preached “self” and “choosing you” and it’s leading people down a lonely road. Abandon everyone and choose your own feelings. No one is perfect in this life. Forgive and accept your loved ones flaws if at all possible. Don’t live life alone and without grace.
