My then 7 month old preemie caught rsv his FIRST DAY of daycare and ended up in the PICU, with a total 3 week stay between the PICU and general floor. His RSV turned into pneumonia and I thought for a short time I would lose him. After thinking I would lose him at birth. I would NEVER want to cause another to feel that. Keep your sick kids home.

We had a parent try to Ai a doctors note saying he was fine to come to school with HFM! The family was removed that day.

Had a parent do that all the time, poor baby already had a history of seizures. Temp went from 99.9 to 103 quick once, couldn’t get ahold of mom or dad. He had a seizure in the middle of nap which is what I was worried about and why I didn’t leave his side. Mom finally called back after we got him loaded up in the ambulance and then was annoyed they wouldn’t wait for her before heading to the hospital. He spent 2.5 weeks in the hospital, he seized the whole way. And guess who was back in daycare the day after he was discharged? To this day, temp reaches 100? They’re going home. I don’t care if parents get mad. Find another daycare then cause I’m not messin with all that again.

Always the medicine right before school. 😑 I work in preschool and it’s a weekly occurrence.

I sincerely believe the parents who do that deserve to be discharged from the program. Why do you think their job is more important than ours? The only way they’ll learn to quit being so selfish as if they face consequences like that.

Few things in childcare make me as angry as parents pretending we’re stupid enough not to know when there’s something off with their kids. It’s insulting on SO many levels and it puts us in a terrible position when we have to call them out on their lies to protect ourselves and our other kids

They don’t realize that the Tylenol is going to wear off in about 4 hours and you’re going to have to come get them when that fever spikes 😂

We had to close TWICE last year due to low staff and numbers. The parents didn't want to keep them home but then they had no choice.

Omg I’m so tired of these parents!!!! One of mine got Covid and gave Tylenol just in case. I sent home right away and parent had the nerve to get mad 😡

worked head start for ten years, and during COVID they'd give their kids Tylenol and send them in. Runny noses and coughing were ignored by parents and the sickness rules were lifted by admin so the parents could get to work...... we were closed down multiple times because it spread through the whole building. there were children we had to beg the parents to bring to the doctor and they ended up having pneumonia and COVID, some even rsv, at the same time. The parents don't care about their children, and the schools don't care about teachers.

In 2012, I had to return to work after 6 years of being a SAHM. Got my vaccines updated in late June, and by end of July, I caught whooping cough from a child whose mom gave him Tylenol. Fever spiked, and i had to stay with him in my classroom while my class was sent next door. Called his mom at 10, and she said she'd come get him during her lunch. Didn't come until the center closed at 6pm because she claimed her boss would let her leave. I wasn't allowed time off to go to the doctor because I was still in my probationary period, and by the time I was able to go on a Saturday, it was too late; I ended up sick for 16 weeks.
